Like everyone else, I really believed that we would be home a few weeks and then back to my normal routine of travel, meetings, and events on repeat.??Our lives have changed dramatically since the announcement of the global pandemic, COVID-19.?? As an ecosystem leader, I began reaching out to my network to make certain people were handling this drastic change in their lives well. I wanted to know if they were as prepared as one can be for the unknown.??All of this was happening while I was managing my own grief at the ongoing loss of life of people that I knew, caring for loved ones and running a business built on connecting people.?? Before I slumped into a pit of anxiety, I started looking for content that would inspire and educate me during this moment.??Then I decided to join the small chorus of people looking at this moment from the “glass is half full” perspective.??I had about 2,500 connections on LinkedIn and today I have over 297K followers on the platform.??How did this happen? After being selected to participate in the Black Voices initiative, I made it a point to post the content that I wanted to see: I wanted my voice to be authentic. None of us knew what the future held and I made certain my voice reflected that reality.? People were looking for deeper meaning in life. I made certain that my voice reminded people that purpose and intention are key ingredients in building anything successful. So, I launched a series on “Falling Into Purpose,” where I interviewed successful people that understood how to pivot.?? Lastly, always look for a solution.??At the core of my work and message is find the solution.??It’s easy to get stuck on the problem but focusing on solutions lifts us to live our best lives.
