Woodside has taken positive FID on Pluto-T2 (Scarborough) LNG project Woodside Energy has taken positive final investment decision (#FID) on the $12 billion Scarborough gas development and Pluto #LNG plant's expansion (Train 2) project in #Australia. The Australian operator said that gas processed through Pluto Train 2 will be one of the lowest carbon intensity sources of LNG delivered to customers in north Asia, and has targeted first cargo in 2026. "The final investment decision is underpinned by quality customer support with approximately 60% of Scarborough capacity contracted, including domestic gas for the proposed Perdaman urea project, " Woodside's CEO Meg O'Neill said in a statement. According to the Global LNG Database? (https://lnkd.in/dSG73cW), the Scarborough field contains an estimated contingent?#resource?(2C) dry gas volume of 11.1 TCF (100%; 8.2 TCF Woodside share) and its gas would require?#nitrogen?removal facilities before feeding to the plant. Woodside and BHP agreed to align their participating interests across the WA-1-R (Scarborough) and WA-62-R (North Scarborough) titles, resulting in Woodside holding a 73.5% interest and BHP holding a 26.5% interest in each title. Last month, Woodside has said that it was on track to sell down stakes in its $12 billion Scarborough gas project and Pluto LNG train 2 project as soaring?#oil?and?#gasprices?improving its bargaining position. Woodside had expected to announce sell-downs on the Scarborough and Pluto in time to make a?#finalinvestmentdecision?on those projects by the middle of December as Woodside and?BHP?had agreed to make the FID on the Scarborough project by then in the initial merger agreement in August. Well done Woodside. Very glad to see the two massive developments approved for execution. Proud to say that I developed the cost risk templates for both these projects.
