“Mandatory vaccine? I quit.” When I posted earlier this week (https://lnkd.in/dN-nAUi) about major medical and nursing groups putting out a call to make #covidvaccines mandatory, the response was swift and furious, with dozens of comments in the first hour alone. One theme that emerged? Threats to quit.? Now that major medical centers like the Mayo Clinic and Yale New Haven Health (and many others) have taken up the call, the possibility of a wave of resignations, even a small one, could be concerning in a profession that’s in a perpetual #talentshortage.? Some healthcare executives are already taking note. “If today I said, ‘everybody’s required to take the vaccine or you’re terminated,’ then I have a problem being able to take care of people who show up to our ER with strokes, or chest pains, or medical admissions or surgical admissions,” Alan Levine, president and CEO of Ballad Health, which has hospitals in Tennessee, Virginia, North Carolina and Kentucky, told a local news station recently. (https://lnkd.in/dXCaV9p) As many as one in four clinicians with direct patient contact has not been vaccinated, according to a WebMD and Medscape analysis from last month. (https://lnkd.in/e6FSBFt) If you work for a #healthcare organization, what are you seeing on the ground?

Sorry . I can help millions of people that work in hospitals restaurants nursing homes a Covid disinfecting air filter for all AC units and ventilation system around the world.for apartments and stores places we visit every day in our normal rounds in live even schools.

Getting vaccinated does not prevent a person from getting Covid. It has been proven that vaccinated and unvaccinated alike can carry the same viral load of Covid. The vaccine can change the severity of Covid in a vaccinated person. So Vaxxed or unvaxxed are equally a danger in the spread of Covid. The shot only protects the person getting it to some degree.

Are healthcare workers required to get other vaccines as a condition for employment? I know they can waive the flu vaccine, for example but what about tetanus shot, hep a or hep b, etc? Just curious.

I think it's selfish and arrogant to be so adamant about not wanting a vaccine. As Healthcare providers we have a responsability to our patients and coworkers to provide them with the best service possible, and that includes taking as many precautions as possible to prevent the spread of disease. Also as people of science I find it baffling that so many are opposed to technology that has been shown to work and be effective. Vaccines work and are important to create herd inmunity, whether we are at the hospital/clinic, home or wherever.

It is selfish for a healthcare worker to provide direct patient care to a vulnerable pt without vaccination. Those with special circumstances can ask for an exemption and may be assigned to do non-clinical jobs or work from home for a pay less than what they are getting compared to when they are at the bedside instead of threatening them unemployment. That way hospital will keep their employees still. But for those who just doesn’t want it because they want to exercise their right they can always go find work where vaccination are not mandated and they are open to reapply when the vaccine are FDA approved and has been fully vaccinated. Staff shortages are affected by a lot of factors. Mandating Covid 19 Vaccination is just one of them. The Mass exodus of nurses are brought about by PTSD from the first wave of the pandemic, travel nursing - which was supposed to be an answer to the shortage has attracted the regular staff from leaving their home units and accept high paying crisis contracts (less politics, no unit meetings, bigger pay), unsafe nurse:patient ratio (ongoing and has become worst with Covid). The mandate will be the tipping point of it all but not the sole reason for staff shortages. IMO.

I get TB tested annually in order to be an employee and this is extremely low risk, I am up to date on all other vaccines as a nurse. It is a job requirement. So much fuss over protecting others.

Where I work there is such a shortage that I think we would take 10 unvaccinated nurses in PPE over 5 vaccinated nurses. Besides, both can apparently spread it.
