In honor of #WomenHistoryMonth, I am grateful to Melanie Mortimer for her powerful leadership in promoting financial education and capital markets literacy. I am fortunate to enjoy her friendship and mentorship as a leader, daughter, sister and citizen. As President of the SIFMA Foundation, she leads an incredible team to develop innovative partnerships across the sectors, engaging educators, government leaders, private sector funders, nonprofit partners and financial professionals as volunteers. Our relationship began a few years ago as fellows of Sterling Network NYC to explore cross sector collaborations to increase economic mobility. Melanie graciously helped me engage EY volunteers to contribute their knowledge to support young students with her organization. To #CelebrateHER, I will make a donation to support the SIFMA Foundation. I am inspired by this video of #HERstory and the amazing stories she helps to create through many impactful programs including #StockMarketGame, #InvestItForward, #InvestWrite and #CapitolHillChallenge.
