In honor of #WomenHistoryMonth, I am grateful to Bernell Grier for her strength and fortitude in community advocacy. With a successful career in financial service and nonprofit management, she exemplifies what it means to lead with purpose. I have the privilege to learn from her as fellows of Sterling Network NYC to explore ways to foster cross sector collaboration to increase economic mobility. After a leadership retreat session, she graciously gave me a car ride filled with inspiring stories of her professional journey. I greatly appreciate her for generously sharing her wisdom with honesty, courage and kindness. Bernell currently serves as the Executive Director of IMPACCT Brooklyn to lead the charge on addressing issues of affordable housing, tenants’ rights, small businesses and home ownership.
