We love board games. Last week we planned to buy our next family game. I asked my 8 & 5-year-old kids to make the decision, under two constraints. 1. They research the shortlisted #games online and explain their discovery 2. They both agree on one game, otherwise, we don’t buy anything They thought this was fun and were up for the challenge. Starting with a shortlist, they started exploring info on Amazon and a few chosen Youtube channels. Out of initial excitement, they jumped to a quick conclusion. With some guidance, they learned the difference between tutorials, manufacturer reviews, and public feedback. The next challenge was to agree on a decision! Given the constraint, there was motivation to debate/convince each other and agree on something. My son finally announced that we had a winner - Carcassonne, a tile-placement game. This was a small experiment to try out two #skills: 1. #ProblemSolving through #information discovery. With the info overload on the internet, this is a critical skill to teach. 2. #Emotionalintelligence to build consensus. Both agree and win, or miss out. I had my favorite games from the shortlist and couldn't wait to see what they pick. I love this choice and am looking forward to the game! What experiments are you trying with your kids?
What is more important--- Outcome or the Process?
Great choice! One of our games as well.

4 年My 3 year old is all into Puzzles... with her favorite music on she can do it the entire day without cribbing... love her patience and sense of challenge. It also shows kids grasp images much better than we anticipate... she just picked up alphabets but can easily identify a Starbucks, Target, Walmart even a less frequented Jamba Jucie from a moving car... u sometimes wondered how the tiny brains are wired...
