How do you handle negative comments on the internet? ?? I used to get defensive. Earlier, some comments on my articles were inflammatory ?? I got worried.. and strangely, I wondered what ‘others’ would think of it! I got into lengthy exchanges explaining my position.. even when it was obvious that the person hadn’t even read the article. Then I learned to tackle them. I approach them?a bit differently now. Yes, I read every single comment, and try responding/reacting to them. It could play out in 3 ways: 1. If a comment is critical, I reflect to see what I’m missing. Then I continue the conversation. I’ve learned a lot from these. 2. If it starts ok and turns hyper-critical with no scope for resolution, it's best to ‘agree to disagree’. We can’t square off all debates on social media. Gently disagree and disengage. 3. If it looks like a deliberate act of provocation, ignore it rightaway. It’s a worse idea to even respond. Never feed trolls with your attention. That’s what they are after in the first place! Yes, easier said than done. Learn to tune out the negativity. Get back to sharing on social media and you'll be fine. On a lighter note, negative comments show that you’re getting noticed ?? If anything, take it as a milestone and move on! How do you handle them?
Not many negative comments for me. I'm thinking I'm maybe a bit boring online ?? Love your insights on this but am a bit puzzled why anyone would troll an intelligent person with something to say?? Why would they troll you? Still can't figure why people think it is ok to behave badly.

4 年Well said. These days Handling Social media sadly depends on our patience level rather than expertise to some extent. these are 4 major points I consider while handling comments : 1. Context 2. Agree/Disagree 3. Debate Monger ( frustrating sometimes ) 4. Attention seeker ( contrast comment irrespective of right or wrong - just oppose whatever we say and defend those?) 5. Ignore
