“This book intends to convince you that #data is profoundly dumb” ???? Clearly, Judea Pearl is not enthusiastic about data and today’s approaches to #ArtificialIntelligence! I am reading ‘The Book of Why’ where he explains that cause and effect are key to the science of decision making. He shows why advanced questions cannot be answered just by data, statistics, and machine learning. An example: Data can tell you how likely a customer who bought toothpaste is likely to buy dental floss. But it can’t tell you what would have happened if the price of toothpaste was doubled. I’m enjoying the read so far! I’m looking out for other recommendations on decision science. If you’ve come across good books or blogs, please share. #analytics #business
It is a great read Ganes. Especially as Judea has made noteworthy contributions in the field of AI his conviction that the causal based systems are the way forward for Artificial Intelligence makes this a compelling read. Hope you as well enjoy this!
"Picturing the Uncertain World" book's first chapter is with historical examples of where data-based decisions led to millions of dollars spent (wasted?). https://www.goodreads.com/en/book/show/6429521-picturing-the-uncertain-world

4 年Ganes Kesari I must be missing something. Isn't your example a price elasticity question?
