Numbers don’t capture our imagination. They don’t engage us. They don’t move us to take action. Stories do. You might recall hundreds of stories. Right from your childhood. Without any effort. But, you likely won’t remember a number in isolation. Yes, some of those stories might be wrapped around numbers. It’s the story that makes us remember the numbers. Convert your numbers into stories. Whether it’s a simple sum. Or the statistical output from your machine learning model. Chances are your audience will cherish them for much longer. And, they will do something with it. #data #analytics #business #datascience
This is a great point Ganes Kesari Numbers combined with story creates huge difference
Such a powerful point, Ganes Kesari! Stories move us to action..and to inaction in the face of risk. I remember sharing teenage driving fatality statistics with my teens when they were learning to drive. Their eyes would roll as they believed I was being melodramatic. Then I shared a personal and real story of my own...about friends who were sisters. One lost her life in an accident while the other was driving. Her sister, overcome with guilt, later took her own life. This tragic story impacted my children, and their driving habits, in a tangible way. Numbers are most powerful when humanized through stories!
