The coronavirus pandemic is affecting each generation differently, according to LinkedIn’s fourth Workforce Confidence Index — a biweekly measure of how people feel about their job security, financial well-being and career outlook. The Index shows that Millennials are the most confident age group (+34, on a scale from -100 to +100) and Baby Boomers the least confident (+28). That hasn’t changed since the first release on April 14. Although Millennials are the most optimistic, they’re not immune to the pressures the rest of the workforce is facing right now. When asked what their main concerns are in light of the coronavirus pandemic, they — along with Gen Z — cited the job market and their finances. A quarter of Millennials even expect their earned income to decline in the near future. On the other hand, Gen X and Baby Boomers were more likely to cite the lack of face-to-face communication, as it pertains to both their personal and business relationships, as their main challenges right now. I work in the recycling industry. My job was considered essential during the pandemic and is still going strong. It's not working behind a desk and it definitely is a dirty job, but it is secure and profitable. Imagine how fast landfills would fill up without our service. As far as dirty work, I'm a retired Navy Chief AO and enjoy it, even at almost 60 years old.

Making the assumption that they're optimistically planning: Many folks in the banded age group 55 to 62 might take whatever job they can possibly get. The answer is to accrue extra quarters to buttress monthly Social Security benefits.
It has been hard for everyone to adjust to the lack of face to face interactions. Unfortunately, Every generation needs to adjust to being life-long learners because the older you are the harder it is for you to adjust to change.
Helping people have an opportunity mindset
Fortunately, I am in good health and remain employed and working but am concerned for my long term prospects. Unfortunately, working from home is not an option available to me and I am in the higher risk age group for Covid. I used to consider myself an optimist but find myself becoming more pessimistic each time I am laid off and especially now with this pandemic.
It’s interesting to hear about others struggles and luck. But remember that this experience is also a lesson in what some or many were complicit in. A positive attitude, deep confidence is a characteristic that we should have been striving for, and helped instill in others. This was not done. Self-righteousness, pretentious positivity will not help many at this time. Maybe this situation is not as drastic, but maybe it’s worse. So at this time it would be useful if everyone contributed in putting out ideas, or actual assistance for others to stabilize, or better their situation. Don’t get me wrong complaining is good, it’s venting. And telling about your hard work is useful. But helpful ideas are better.
