Good discussion and I really liked Loren Greiff's point about there being dignity in work and that there is no shame in doing what must be done to support ourselves and our families.

I have a question. If you were potentially offered a job but was still debating on it after a couple of days, does this mean that you are not really interested in it?

As so many people have pointed out, this will depend on a person's circumstance. I'm in Sales, unfortunately, the market for me right now is pretty dead. I have actually worked for the Royal Mail for a short period, and am very open to temp jobs that are below what would be deemed below my usual pay grade...needs must! No one knows how long the current lockdown measures are going to be in place for, or how we try to return to normality, so for me, it's about accepting the situation as it is and being as resourceful as you can be,

A problem with this is also that it may be harder to move back up to your level again once you've stepped down. Although this IS an exception situation.

i've had trouble getting work pre-covid. was so fed up, that i chose to give myself work. it can be done yet i understand about people in the industry with dream jobs losing their place in less than a week after years of service. so hence, a rebuild for everyone.

I wrote an article about this a few years ago. In short, no, don't ever tell a company (or recruiter) you'll accept ANY job. https://www.dhirubhai.net/pulse/20140713120906-21221799--i-ll-date-anyone-you-wouldn-t-say-it-on-a-date-so-why-say-it-in-an-interview/
