?? Lemons to Lemonade: Bauer, Sporting Equipment Manufacturer, Pivots to Produce Medical Shields & Save Jobs ?? ?? ?? When COVID-19 hit, the hockey 2019/2020 season came to an abrupt end. It was a disappointment for hockey players of all ages, fans, and hockey Moms. As a retired hockey Mom and team building expert, this story grabbed my interest. For Bauer, founded in Canada, the future of the Blainville, Quebec plant was in jeopardy. The engineering team assembled, brainstormed, and came up with the idea of manufacturing protective shields for front line health care professionals. This involved some re-tooling but the raw material for hockey helmet visors could be re-purposed. 100,000 shields have already been produced. At the Liverpool, New York head office that usually manufactures lacrosse equipment is producing face shields. Not only has Bauer stayed afloat, but it's also saving jobs by filling critical gaps in the supply chain. Meeting client needs sometimes requires collaboration with competitors. Bauer posted the manufacturing specs on its website. ? What other companies have harnessed employee innovation to stay afloat and thrive? #innovation #creativity #hockey #teambuilding #executiveoasis
