It is quite understandable that Infinera's CFO has been under a great deal of stress, which has been life-threatening in nature (https://lnkd.in/dVRqEq9). At least up until recently, the company's unjustified, all-encompassing obsession on its PIC technology (https://lnkd.in/d_Ah6WU), has taken a toll on many people. It could be revealing that in its customary, long-winded, introductory text, there was no mention of the software deal with Verizon. In the past, although the service provider made positive remarks about Infinera, which became public, it didn't result in any meaningful business, and it became clear to us that the customer never had any intention of truly purchasing from the vendor. Of course, the fact that it was developed by the ex-Tellabs firm may make a difference, but it could also just be a means of Verizon to get a firm, such as Ciena, to perhaps step up its R&D efforts. Also, Infinera criticized Ciena for its lengthy backlogs in the past, and now it's playing the same game. https://lnkd.in/dUFP2Dx
