Hey there! If you're posting videos, why? Why video - for you? Here's why video is so hugely important for me. Quentin Allums has this challenge called the #whyvideo challenge, and here's my stab at it. My answer's really simple. Video is an incredibly humanizing medium. It's far more personal than than text, and audio is a fantastic bridge, but being able to see more of how a person interprets things, how they communicate things, how their body language is expressed. It's the closest you can get of course to face to face. When it comes to being on LinkedIn or in social networking and so on, it can be such a de-personalizing experience. It can be hard to really understand what a human, what another person is like. So given that we're all separated, and meeting new people all the time, anything that we can do to humanize that connection builds a bunch of different things. ??It builds trust. ??It builds an ability to get a sense of who a person really is over and above their profile. ??Again it fast tracks your ability to talk about stuff and to get to know someone and to trust them. And that's basically the cornerstone of good business. So why video? It's more human. Day 8 of my 21 day video challenge. :) #7lifemarks #video #personal #linkedin
Hi Dominic, I couldn't agree more with the benefits of video! Add to that the fact that we have access to more of you - your voice, your body language, facial expressions..and you come across so naturally :-)?
Well said Dominic! That’s the main reason why I’ve used video as much as I have, with the hope of creating a more human connection with my community who follow my work. That said, I do also think that there are certain personality types that may prefer text (I like reading, as I can go slow when I need to and can speed up when I have the point). So a question that’s worth considering is: what way does my tribe most desire to engage with content?
I like the humanizing part very much, Dominic. I appreciate anything that allows us to come closer and helps us to maintain a human connection. I love technology but used as a helping tool and not a replacement.
Great #whyvideo Dominic de Souza. You’re right, video does have the capacity to add a human touch to our content. It adds depth, it adds layers, and it adds context. It builds rapport and strength in relationships. It creates empathy and understanding for others too. Thank you for sharing your why.??
Quentin Allums?- tagging you here. And mega kudos on your TEDx talk! When can we see it? :D

5 年Great post, totally agree. I find video is the best way to get my energy and passion across to folk, and I find it quicker to do wee tips videos than spending time crafting copy ??
