LinkedIn Discussion: Is there value in leadership? There seems to be an obsession with throwing more and more management tools at business problems. Using vast amounts of data to optimize every facet of an organization's operations. Sometimes it seems more like fine-tuning a machine than improving an organization with real people. To me it seems like one of the greatest competitive advantages organizations can obtain today will come from improved leadership. Enhancing the culture, improving employee engagement and satisfaction, and inspiring innovative advances. I tend to think the secret to high-performance lies with the people. Granted, I think there is huge value in effective management practices as well. But it seems most organizations focus too much on managing their employees and not enough on leading them. Am I the only one that feels this way? #leadership #business #culture #employeeengagement #authenticleadership #humansoflinkedin #entrepreneur #success #goals #entrepreneurship #entrepreneurs #linkedin
Joshua -- That's an Important issue, in my opinion; which requires to be considered in the context of "Organizational Culture". I believe that; applying the Leadership skills into an organization, would not be useful by itself; if that prerequisite "Cultural Change" needed for this purpose, has not yet been successfully implemented throughout the organization ! Shifting from Management to Leadership is a HUGE organizational change, beginning from TOP Level(s ), then flowing through bottom ones .. Waiting to hear others' great remarks, anyway. Thanks

6 年Joshua Plenert, MBA, MS, PE, leadership and management are closely connected for me. You need both for a high performing organisation. I also see the increased focus on hacks and systems and frameworks the hopes of which are high performance. What people rarely tell is that frameworks need an already well-formed team with good communication to deliver those superb results. Without that, the shiny new process will fail at a conflict or resistance.
