Brian Kalis?- The 4th industrial revolution is upon us so the topic of frictionless business is very timely. It is clear that open digital ecosystems that enable frictionless information flow is critical for any industry going through its digital transformation.. And yes, having a good, well structured architecture and API is part of the equation. I even believe that creating application logic to better manage these relationships ("smart contracts") is also important. But throwing around terms like microservices and blockchain, in my opinion, takes focus away from the more fundamental issues -- the lack of a compelling reason to change from the status quo.?? Only the future the will show which enterprises (providers, payors, etc.) became thought leaders and "risk-takers" but for now there seems to be way too much rhetoric and not enough actions. Current financial pressures prevent most of our largest healthcare "players" from investing in change with the hope of future benefit. It would be great to see more engagement around a commitment to change and a plan to get there rather than a continual flaunting of the latest and greatest technologies.
