Building a service business has been an incredibly unique experience. Here’s everything I’ve learned in the past 4 months. ?? 1. Brand: Thousands of digital marketing companies exist. A large percentage try to be everything to everyone. While my work is in this space, my core competency is helping brands and entrepreneurs build communities. 2. Content: In a noisy world, it’s hard to stand out. Try and empathize with your audience and resonate in a personal way. In turn, this will help you build your own audience. 3. Track Leads: Never leave a stone unturned. Always follow up. 4. Establish Recurring Revenue: While there is nothing wrong with project-based work, it’s incredibly hard to build a real business if you don’t systematize your offerings. 5. Mentors: Surround yourself with people much further ahead of you in the same industry. They know the pitfalls you haven’t yet faced. 6. People Buy You: Many people can replicate you with service work, but where you separate yourself is doing the little things right and consistently. 7. Know Your Value: Don’t be afraid to have the courage to ask for what you’re worth. In the beginning, it’s easy to underprice, but be confident as you progress. Hope this helps those aspiring to build their own dream in 2019.
