Hello LinkedIn friends and colleagues! I've been mulling this since completing Creative Followership by Jimmy Collins. As anyone that knows me is aware, I post a great deal about balance. Balance is a firm grasp of two character extremes and wisdom knowing when to gravitate towards one or another. Most also know I post about leadership very regularly. As I read and finished the book, I had one of those AaaHAaaa moments! The balancing character to leadership, is followership!!! As Jimmy mentions in the book, a leader is someone who has followers..... #KeepingItSimple Before anyone attempts to tar and feather me, let me explain and clarify about being a follower...... Followers are not!!!! >subservient or doormats >blind followers >without influence or authority >simple or naive Followers are!!!! >deliberate and accomplished in their Design, Passion and Purpose >respected by the leader and a key part of a team >directly affects outcomes for the team >a purposeful follower Once everyone has gotten over the shock of using the term, "Follower," I will share more posts explaining the details of being a Creative Follower! W. Kevin Ward firstly, you killed one holy cow called leadership. This is taught (I don’t know how but supply many with lucrative jobs). It is discussed and everyone has a different definitions to it. So let’s see what followers mean.
To be happy and healthy in life we need balance. Nutrition, sleep, good and bad, money, exercise, all require balance. All in moderation, lack of one things requires more of another to make up the balance. I’m a Libra so they say our characteristics are pretty two way, yet balanced ??

Excellent!!! To paraphrase a quote I heard long ago and have tried to apply through various career paths, “If followership is beneath you then leadership is above you.”
