Part two: It must be able to apply it everywhere the same (equally). An impossible goal fails this so it is unethical.

Yes birds of a feather do tend to flock together. This is why we have countries. There is nothing wrong with this. Every time I hear about diversity I cringe. When one defines it as based on race or sex it is wrong. The definition of racism is the (mistaken) notion? that one can determine outcomes base on race. Same for sex. as being sexist The way we think is not based on skin color. This is extremely shallow (literally and figuratively speaking), A black woman does not think differently from a white man. An Asia does not think differently than a Hispanic. Anyone who thinks that things would be that differently in technology based on race or sex is racist or sexist. Having a differently thinking person in a job may have made a difference, but not because of race or sex. I used to watch a show on PBS. They had a young, single black woman as one of the panelists. I found myself agreeing with her 99% of the time. I am in my 60s and a married white man. According to diversity proponents I should have disagreed with her 99% of the time and not agreed 99% of the time. Diversity is an impossible goal and as such fails the 'Universalizability' characteristic of good ethical theory, meaning it is unethical to promote it. [end of part 1.]

Great article. “Culture Fit” has become a mantra for many hiring processes. It takes courage to address possible flaws and biases.

While I completely understand where this is coming from, and absolutely believe that sometimes "fit" can be a problem of the "like me" hiring bias, I also believe there is room to talk about fit in ways that don't fall into that trap.?? I think the key is to be more detailed and explicit in what is meant by the term fit when it's used to avoid such confusion.? But, we can't assume that if someone uses the "fit" heuristic, there is absolutely bias at play (and I recognize that I say that as a person with a lot of privileged - but it's not unchecked).? ?
