Ciaran Dunne is an exceptional leader in my book. Here's 3 reasons why: 1. He candidly shares with his staff what his values are: openness, challenge, kindness, progress. He reminds his staff at every opportunity about these and constantly strives to create a culture which reflects these. 2. He engages with staff at all levels and is an accessible leader - he finds the time to speak to people across all grades in his organisation. He understands that saying “my door is always open” is not enough, and actually you as the leader have to go into the room and make yourself accessible. 3. He is not defensive and reminds his senior team about this regularly. He said: "When others give you feedback, don’t JDE – Justify, Defend and Explain" They are telling you something.
