Two things successful people do extremely well: This thought crossed my mind in the shower earlier today. I think it's a vital skill for doing well, and I see it so commonly across the lives of the highest achievers. They all tend to: 1. Create an interesting story (about their lives/careers). 2. Tell their story extremely well. Consider it your life's continuous and evolving elevator pitch - what makes you 'you' and how you got to where you are today? Take a moment to think of someone that you consider successful or inspiring. Chances are you know their 'story'. Why? It's because they've created an interesting story about their own life/career and have told it extremely well. Truth is, we're all salespeople. Yet we often forget that the most important sale of our lives is how we sell ourselves to the world. How do you 'create an interesting story and tell it extremely well?' I'll answer that question towards the end of the week. Hint: experiences. Let me know if you agree or disagree in the comments. Have a strong Monday and week ahead ????????. #PersonalBranding #Success #Career #MondayMotivation #Students
I read this after giving a talk at EY’s 2018 Partner Conference on how their Smart Futures programme helped change my life. The talk highlighted the lack of access ethnic minorities have in getting involved with meaningful work experience, particularly those who live in impoverished areas. I hope my story resonated with EY’s partners.
"Truth is, we're all salespeople. Yet we often forget that the most important sale of our lives is how we sell ourselves to the world." Hit the nail on the head!
Could not agree more! I love watching interviews of leaders I find inspiring. The fact that I remember some of the exact phrases used by leaders to narrate their story, emphasises how important good story telling is!
