#YouAsked We were asked today to (very briefly) answer a question by the editors at LinkedIn. Here's the question and our 75 word reply. Q:“I will be graduating in the fall of 2018. If I don't jump right into my career after I graduate (which is the plan, but I cannot predict the future), what advice would you give an alumna on working their way in their field?” —Kennedy Edwards, Cashier at Target, Kennesaw State University Class of 2018 A:?It’s supposed to be a job hunters market, but let’s face it: If you are young and inexperienced, it’s anything but. Here’s my advice: You’ve still got a little time before you graduate, so get as much on-the-ground experience as you can. Get an internship, volunteer for free, do whatever it takes to start working today in your field (even if it’s part-time, on the lowest rung). Almost no one cares about your GPA after you graduate, and most don’t care where you went to school, but they will be very interested in your practical experience.
