How do you handle people who you connect with on LinkedIn and the first thing they do is message you with a solicitation? I agreed to connect with someone I didn't know personally as they were in the financial services industry in which I have a lot of clients and because we had a number of mutual connections. I then promptly received a message soliciting me for an investment. Here is what wrote. What do you think? What is your approach? [Name], I wish you all the best, but I will be disconnecting with you here as is my policy for anyone who requests a LinkedIn connection and then immediately solicits me. I am committed to building authentic business relationships and not transactional ones, and I do not find people whose first communication prior to building any relationship is a solicitation to be in alignment with me. Good luck with your business endeavors, Corey
Well written! I get so annoyed and stunned that I am speechless when this happens. I will follow your lead and let them know tactfully that their business approach is not in line with my integrity. Thank you for sharing!
This post has, certainly, hit a cord. Soliciting first violates one of my 5 tenets of building authentic business relationships - Give First! If you are curious what the other 4 tenets are, take a look at this blog post I wrote a few months ago: https://coreykupfer.com/2017/11/16/can-build-better-business-relationships/
Appreciate you contacting me. I'm not interested.
Great and very polite answer. I take umbrage with the people who ask what my core business is ? They are writing me but can't read my profile? I just bless and block them.
You are much nicer than me. I immediately disconnect.
Ugh...
Disconnect
I try not to connect with people on LinkedIn that I haven’t at least met at a function or done some business with.

1 年I immediately remove the connection. Simple as that.
