So I spent Sunday at University of Cambridge: Great day out yesterday with the amazing team at MAA (Maternal Aid Association) Charity - a student founded charity focused on revolutionising maternal health in developing countries. Aqil Jaigirdar, medical student at King's College London and #founder of Maa Charity UK, kicked off the evening with a powerful presentation on the background and story behind the creation of Maa. Ahamodur Choudhury then explained some of the key reasons, initiatives and programs that the charity have designed to tackle the growing challenges facing maternal healthcare. Their flagship event is the annual trip to Bangladesh, #JourneyMaa, where a group of volunteers fly over to Bangladesh and host healthcamps in rural villages - as you can imagine, the turnout (more than 100 mothers) is humbling. The night concluded with dinner and networking in the stunning Christs College dining hall. If you'd like to get involved, the Maa team are currently looking for individuals who would like to change the world. See link in first comment. Huge thanks to the Cambridge Bangladesh Society, Sujina Noor Khatun, Nurjahan Saleque, Abdul Rahyead and everyone else who was involved in organising such a successful event.
