"After reviewing your job application we've decided to go through with another candidate. I wish you the best of luck with your job search" I've read these lines one too many times. The flame burning inside me, waiting for tinder, was rapidly fading out. But that didn't stopped me to push through. I began looking at those rejections as an opportunity to grow I remember thinking: “I am the right candidate, but not for those jobs” I started applying what I learned but in other circumstances. With my entrepreneurial education and depicted marketing skills I've built 4 startup companies. Failed with some, succeeded with others but all this time the common denominator was focus. When I stopped chasing the opportunity and focused on developing myself opportunity started chasing me. Job proposals. Consultancy gigs. Podcast shows. I was humbled and grateful. Today, I'm working on building a personal brand, helping companies grow with proven growth frameworks and building my fifth startup company. You can't change the direction of the wind, but you can adjust your sails to always reach your destination" - Jimmy Dean #teamhuman #LinkedIn #letsgethonest #staycurious
The mindset shift, the stuff I`m struggling as well. One have to go beyond himself and believe into unbelievable. That`s how greatness is born. ...and Walt Disney, Steve Jobs, Mohamed Ali, etc... who did it against all odds.
Very Inspirational message, It is good to read of others successes thank you for sharing your message got my fire going again today. Thank you!
I sometimes write erasure poems out of rejection emails. I still win.
When they chose someone else, move on. No point in caring, they won't respond if you try to contact them unless it's about keeping your resume on file.
I was rejected 20 times before getting a good job, always receiving the same template email that never says why I wasn't the right candidate. A good friend made me see the truth - many (or most) companies prefer younger candidates with less experience because they'll accept lower salaries and they're easier to mould than someone in their thirties/forties. Experienced professionals will question things based on their experience, while millenials will do what they're told, like robots. Nowadays, many companies prefer someone who's able to perform tasks without questioning why or how. I definitely do not want to work for such companies.
This really speaks to me! Thank You!
Yes
I don't know why but rejections work better for motivation than appraisals;) rejections are pushing us to actions to be an even better person in front of ourselves. Because we are the biggest judges for ourselves and no others.
Congrats Alexandru!! I firmly believe we win or we learn, we never lose as long. We just need to be reflective and honest enough to look for the learning in the moment.
