????♂Orange tie, pink trousers, red shoes?? - the world isn't as black and white as you think?? [coming from a guy, with a black mother and white father]. Anthropologists have found that people in Africa tend to see the zebra as a black animal with white stripes, and Europeans see a white animal with black stripes. How we make sense of the world is down to our cultural exposure and experiences. The zebra analogy is my way to get audiences thinking. ????Photos are from the Bangladesh Brand Forum's 7th Communication Summit, in association with Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, where I gave the keynote??. Prof Dr. Jonathan Remember when we mentioned the same thing to one of the top officers in Thailand's Ministry of Finance? How they've built a great brand in SE Asia for such a small country? And yes, the Bangladeshi government will have to get behind the creatives to advance the country's international reputation. In any case, see you in a few days in Malaysia where we share the same stage for the first time at the Muslim OIC Biz Conference! Need anything from Italy?
I was really impressed with the advertising and branding creatives in Dhaka - they need more money and resources, and government support to help construct brand strategies and architecture amplified by nation branding. Not easy... but essential... that also means looking at things like the visa system, corruption, and the day to day challenges that are hurting innovation, entrepreneurship, storytelling, and fueling a brain drain

Their time will come if they play their cards right. Granted they are ravaged by floods which can pose logistical issues, but they have human resources. They are currently developing the expertise by manufacturing for the titans, but if they strategize correctly, this will become a source of strength in years/decades to come.
Great initiative! As a son of the Bangladeshi diaspora, I couldn't agree more with the premise you point to on the country seriously underselling itself in so many different ways.
Strong look mate.

7 年Dr. I appreciate your personal branding through dress. I am going through a dress transformation myself. It has taken about five years. But finally found a set of tailors that I can work with. I noticed that you are a blazer man, I have started wearings leather blazers and boots but the leather is d__n hot in the spring and summer. But I saw you wearing a blazer in Malaysia as well. I lived there and never pulled that off. What kind of fabric is working for you to keep you cool for days like that?
