First impressions are everything.??? That first impression is happening right now on LinkedIn! Resumes are no more and LinkedIn is one of the first spots that people check you out. I try to check out people's profiles before every call, interview, coffee, and business deal. Have you updated your profile lately?? LinkedIn is rolling out changes pretty much every week now - and people take notice on who's keeping up with the latest features. These are the people that will stand out from the pack - get the deal, get the job. You should embrace the changes and get yourself noticed. ?Don't rely on what's worked in the past. My 3 main tips for improving your first impression on LinkedIn: ?? Put in a relevant image header.? ?I love what Josh Fechter does here where he shares a picture of himself and Mark Zuckerberg. ?? Professional yet interesting headshot.? @Michaela Alexis?is a pro at this and spends the time and resources to make her profile pic and all pics that she does really stand out from the pack.? ??Make your introduction line laser focused ?? Gretta van Riel?knows how to stand out and get to the point in one sentence. Do you? Pardon my dust - I'm experimenting with some changes.??? Can you tell me what you think of my profile?

For years now I've preferred LinkedIn over Facebook but I was never really a big-time #FB user anyway. #LI always resonated more with me albeit I did not spend a great deal of time on the platform. Personally, that has changed this year. Like mentioned, I too, research people on #LI pre or post meeting them in real life (IRL). However, I have some folks in my network that are wary of being more active on #LI. They feel like they may "say the wrong thing on this professional platform" especially if they are also connected to senior leadership in their company.

Brian Wallace, Infographic Expert ? Great!!! What you stated about yourself was HUMAN!! And Real!! You get across the person you are in your bio, and it is difficult to get away from the resume. Great, I Love Linkedin & all the Kind people behind it and in the fields I love!

Thanks Brian, I needed to read this today. I haven't been on LinkedIn in a couple of years so I just set up my profile. It's not speaking to anyone, let alone me lol. So my goal today and everyday is to improve it. I'm making a career change and from the looks of other profiles, I need some guidance!

Your header seems a little wordy, but otherwise good.

I do agree that potential employers go directly to LinkedIn to conduct a profile check, but a strong resume is still a MUST. Every professional should be on LinkedIn, in my opinion. It's a great way to establish your personal brand. That being said, your headline is sharp and you provided great tips.

"Resumes are no more?" Where did that statement come from? It makes no sense to me.
