?? Exciting Times at the US People Analytics World Conference in NYC! ?? I had the incredible opportunity to spend two days last week with over 300 practitioners, vendors, researchers, and partner professionals at the first US People Analytics World conference in NYC! It was an exciting, insightful, and encouraging time talking, meeting, and learning from the community. A huge shoutout to Barry Swales, the #Tucana team For organizing the event and the students from Dr. Anna A. Tavis, PhD #NYU SPS Human Capital Management group providing logistics support. Special thanks to the incredible chairs David Green ???? and Michael M. Moon, PhD for their leadership. Here are some highlights and takeaways: Day 1: Meeting the inspiring Kalifa Oliver, Ph.D., author of "I Think I Love My Job." Perri M. #TheDataIsInnocent catchphrase resonated with everyone! Loved Kristina Schoemmel’s session on Analytics for Setting ESG Goals and KPIs, especially our conversation afterward. Anthony Ferreras’s personal story and Philip Arkcoll’s research on the critical role managers play in the distributed work world. Day 2: Brydie Lear’s demonstration of how people analytics can drive strategic business impact. Cole Napper’s call to action for practitioners and vendors on pursuing excellence and building the function. Finally getting to hear Richard Rosenow speak in person about harnessing people data platforms and continuing to build the people analytics community. One of my favorite sessions was on Navigating DEI with Data, featuring panelists Kristina Schoemmel, Alan Susi, Christopher Cerasoli, Sujatha Menon Zafar, and David Green ????. I loved the passion on this topic from Kristina, the partnership between Alan and Sujatha that creates a multiplier impact, and Chris's caution to always lead through the lens of the goal in mind. Another standout session was Storytelling to Drive Action Across the Business, with panelists Ramesh Karpagavinayagam, Nathan Makdad, Fred Shumate, and Michael M. Moon, PhD. I appreciated Ramesh’s view on leveraging GenAI for efficiency gains to allow humans to focus on the experience for greater impact. And paraphrasing Freds advice on cutting through the noise to insights: "If you’re looking for a needle in a haystack, you might as well burn down the hay." The People Analytics at a Crossroads panel was the perfect wrap-up of the conference. I loved Jane Datta’s analogy of the People Analytics profession growing to a teenager but now there’s a toddler (GenAI) in the house. Each panelist built on this beautifully and Julie Peck’s advice to harness the transformative change this “toddler” will undoubtedly bring resonated. Even though it’ll hurt in the short term, we’ll all be better for it. #peopleanalytics #paw
