October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month. That makes it a good time for employers to think about how to best recruit and retain workers with disabilities -- including invisible ones. Workers with dyslexia, for example, may need accommodations that require a little creative thinking from managers and HR departments.

My 15 year old son is dyslexic. While it's long been viewed as a disability, I've believed it's a gift. He graduates high school in 2023. I'm grateful for him and his gift. This article confirms it's a great time to be dyslexic. Another good read is the book, The Gift of Dyslexia, by Ron Davis.

Interesting article. Being dyslexic naturally meant that I had to listen harder, communicate more and put more emphasis on relationships. It forced me learn how to solve problems in different ways and finding shortcuts around the traditional teaching methods in order to get through the system. For this I'm grateful to be dyslexic.

I've always firmly believed that one's #disability, often thought of as a weakness in some fields, can actually be a #strength in others.
