Recently, when I went to Wayanad, instead of a hotel I opted for a homestay. Best decision! Camellia is a quaint Rani pink villa that sits stout on top of a little hill in the middle of a coffee plantation. It is owned by a Cochin-based couple, Prema and Dharmaraj.
There are two large bedrooms, one on the ground floor and one on the top with attached bathrooms. The one downstairs, where I stayed, has its own balcony overlooking the plantation and beyond. The one above has a large picturesque window framing God's own Country in all its glory. There's a spacious living room, dining area, and study. On the top floor is a common area with a well-stocked bar and a semi-covered terrace. This is the high-point of the house. Sitting here, sipping coffee in the morning, you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the Chembra Peak. It is one of the tallest peaks in South India. There is a flavour of sweet and spice wafting in the clear mountain air throughout.
And oh, the food. How can I forget the food and Mr.Pathrose who can "cook anything South Indian and especially Kerala food items" in a jiffy.
The two-storeyed homestay is what a homestay should be -- cosy like a home with the comforts of a hotel. Efficient but not indifferent.

It's a very nice experience to have. A new atmosphere, a new sorroundings with their culture, and homely feel. I had these experiences. United together, and it's quite interesting.
