Walmart to pay for college
The megachain will fund college educations for its employees — subsidizing tuition, as well as providing support with the application and enrollment processes, reports Bloomberg. For $1 per day, the retail giant’s 1.5 million employees can attend three nonprofit schools (the University of Florida, California’s Brandman University or Bellevue University in Nebraska) for degrees in business or supply-chain management. The courses may also be done online. This move is the latest from the retail giant trying to “reduce turnover and counter criticism over its treatment of staff,” says Bloomberg.
