Veterans face employer bias
Veterans may need to fight employer biases during their job searches, suggests new research. A series of 10 studies involving 3,000 participants showed that people believed veterans were less suited for jobs that require social and emotional skills, according to Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business. In addition to hiring managers keeping their biases in check, one of the researchers said the results show veterans can challenge employers’ preconceived notions by highlighting their emotional and interpersonal skills.
