Uber adds 911 button
Uber has rolled out its 911 in-app calling feature in seven markets around the United States in an effort to increase rider safety. The feature will allow users to call emergency services in a few swipes, which would automatically be given the location of the vehicle. TechCrunch reports that Uber will be adding a similar feature for drivers this summer. The move is part of a bigger safety push under its new CEO Dara Khosrowshahi, which included efforts like the ability to share trip details with trusted friends and family, as well as bmore stringent driver screening. Khosrowshahi, announcing the new safety additions, wrote on LinkedIn: "There’s nothing more important than the safety of the people we serve."
