Machines could replace as many as 20 million jobs in the manufacturing sector over the next 10 years, according to a new report. The study, by Oxford Economics, estimates that 8.5% of the worldwide manufacturing workforce could be displaced by robots. While the transition to robot labor generally creates new jobs as fast as it automates them, it can lead to falling wages for human workers, the report says.
