Record non-stop flight complete
In a "significant first for aviation," a Qantas jet completed the longest non-stop commercial passenger flight in history. It took off from New York with 49 people on board and landed in Sydney 19 hours and 16 minutes later. Among the lucky passengers were pilots, crew members and researchers who monitored how everyone handled the 10,066-mile ride. This will likely pave the way for regular service between Sydney, New York and London. Airlines have recently been testing long-haul flights, with Singapore Airlines reviving its 18.5-hour flight from Singapore to New York in 2018.
