Tech giants sign cyberattack pledge
Some of the world’s largest tech firms have pledged to fight cyberattacks. The Cybersecurity Tech Accord, led by Microsoft (LinkedIn’s parent) and Facebook, was signed by 34 companies on Tuesday. They agreed to improve the “security, stability and resilience of cyberspace,” as well as aid any country that falls victim to cyberattacks, according to the pledge. Several companies have not signed, including Google, Apple and Amazon, notes The New York Times. The pact comes as the U.S. and U.K. issued a joint warning about Russian cyberattacks on internet infrastructure. In a cross-border effort, the EU and U.S. are also linking up in the fight to access data belonging to suspects stored on tech companies' servers, reports The Wall Street Journal, pushing to fine firms that do not comply.
