Will robots *really* take our jobs? Joe Davis, chief economist at the $5 trillion asset manager Vanguard, says there are three flaws in the current conversation around #automation: (1) It assumes jobs are comprised of only one task. "That's just categorically wrong," Davis told Barry Ritholtz?at #EBIWest?today. The average job involves about seven to eight tasks, and many have more than 20. (2) Not all tasks are substitutes for computers. (3) The distribution of tasks in a job is always changing. Meanwhile there are three applications to work that are uniquely human, according to Davis: creative intelligence, emotional intelligence, and technology acumen. So ironically, even as automation continues to proliferate, Davis says the labor market will remain tight over the next five to 10 years. Do you agree?

Everyone posting pictures and video of? the burger flipping robots, and I've just been waiting for Momentum Machines to build their first restaurant. They changed their name to Creator, and? It's finally here.? Its going to radically change the fast food industry. Their choice of conveyor, while asthetic looks like it will have some longer term maintenance implications that may result in higher operating costs though.
