Restaurants balk at delivery fees
Restaurants are beginning to push back against fees charged by delivery apps such as Postmates and GrubHub, says The Wall Street Journal. The delivery app sector, which has tracked a growing demand for food delivery, has struggled to generate profits for both itself and for the restaurants it serves, despite massive investment from venture capital firms. According to the report, restaurants often acted hastily to negotiate deals with apps that saw them take up to a 25% cut of an order.

Why are people obsessed with delivery? What is wrong with going out TO a restaurant? Isn’t that the whole reason you pay restaurant prices? Now you want to pay restaurant prices but have it delivered? Doesn’t anybody have any time to go out anymore? Walk down the street, stretch your legs, etc? What is the obsession with delivery? Pretty soon we will do all of our activities from a simple pod where we can eat, sleep, work and defecate, all in the same place, without having to interact with anybody. That sounds wonderful!
