One in three UK employers expect to cut jobs by October as the government’s Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme winds down, a survey has found. The study of 2,000 companies by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development found the number of businesses expecting to make redundancies had jumped from 22% earlier this year to 33% for the third quarter of 2020. Last week, conciliation service Acas said calls to its redundancy advice line almost tripled in the past two months as thousands of companies and employees seek guidance.
