After much anticipation, Elon Musk’s Boring Company unveiled its first tunnel on Tuesday. Originally scheduled to open Dec. 10, the 2-mile section of the Hawthorne tunnel begins at the parking lot of Musk's rocket company, SpaceX, and will serve as a “research and development project.”

OT: 460,000 views and counting... ?? ?? ?? There is a fine line between genius and insanity. At times I’ve been very critical of Elon Musk and his attention seeking antics. It’s frustrating to watch a guy who is clearly super talented repeatedly press the self-destruct button. Aside from his cult following at Tesla the man isn’t universally well liked, but regardless of your opinion of Tesla, Elon Musk has done an outstanding job of promoting electric vehicles/clean energy and increasing the velocity of change towards cleaner forms of travel. For this alone he deserves a huge amount of credit. The subterranean tube prototype looks totally impractical (to me) but traffic in major cities is a huge issue and it would be great to see Musk/the ‘Boring Company’ find a solution. To build this prototype for $10mn is no mean feat. #elonmusk #boringcompany #tesla #linkedineditorspick
