More telecom jobs may be lost
The Supreme Court ruling on adjusted gross revenue may trigger a fresh round of job cuts at Bharti Airtel and Vodafone India, Economic Times reports. The two companies have just three months to collectively pay more than ?80,000 crore. “The operators will now have to look at ways to ensure future viability of their company which includes investments in network rollout, technology upgrades, expansion plans and manpower costs,” said Rajan Mathews of lobby group COAI. Telcos have been slashing jobs — the operator and tower businesses now employ about 180,000 people as compared to 300,000 in 2017
