Local retail finds its matchmaker
The future of retail is local, according to the latest startup to notch a $1 billion valuation. Online marketplace Faire works with independent retailers to discover and stock inventory from local makers, helping brick-and-mortar stores find an edge in the age of Amazon. The San Francisco startup raised $150 million in its latest round of funding, elevating the company to unicorn status. The two-year-old marketplace is rapidly growing and was named one of LinkedIn’s Top Startups earlier this year.
