J&J to pay $4.14B over talc
The consumer goods firm Johnson & Johnson was found liable on Thursday for having asbestos in their talcum powder products, with a Missouri judge ordering the company to pay $4.14 billion in punitive damages. The verdict came after 22 women claimed the products gave them cancer. J&J was also ordered to pay compensatory damages of $550 million to the women. This "was the largest case" against the company thus far surrounding allegations that its talcum powder causes cancer.
