How companies are helping Lebanon
Companies around the world have announced relief initiatives to support Lebanon recover from the deadly explosion that hit Beirut’s port on August 4th sending shockwaves across the city. The blast killed more than 150 people, destroyed the country’s biggest port, residential neighborhoods, and shopping districts.
Here’s how companies are helping:
? Siemens is providing two gas turbines to medical facilities in Lebanon, giving 150,000 people access to electricity;
? Talabat is donating 100% of its profits region-wide to for relief efforts;
? Volkswagen Middle East is donating its budget for advertising in Lebanon to a local charity;
? Lebanese employees working in a Big Tech firm launched a donation campaign;
? Western Union is offering zero-fee international money transfers to Lebanon paid out in US dollars;
? Airbnb has a disaster relief platform for people to find homes;
? CISCO is matching employee donations;
? Uber offered a free commute to hospitals and blood donation centers, and, and rides were free on Saturday and Sunday.
