General Mills to cut 625 jobs
The packaged-food giant announced this week that it would cut 625 jobs amid rising freight and commodity costs and declining sales of its Yoplait yogurt, reports Reuters. While General Mills saw sales rise 2.2% to $3.89 billion in the fourth quarter, profit declined 13% to $354.4 million, according to The Wall Street Journal. The move also comes during a period of uncertainty for food companies “as shoppers turn away from their mainstay products and look for ones seen as healthier and less processed,” writes the Journal.
