New fire erupts in S. California
Just when fires seemed to be under control in Southern California, a new one broke out late Thursday. The Maria Fire, one of two currently in Ventura County, prompted evacuations of roughly 7,500 people and quickly spread to 8,000 acres. The good news is the National Weather Service says that the winds, which have only fanned the flames, have begun to die down. There are at least 10 wildfires across California that have burned more than 101,000 acres in three weeks.
