EU to reopen to non-EU travellers
The EU is urging member states to gradually reopen their borders to travellers from outside the bloc starting July. Stressing the importance of international travel to tourism and business, the European Commission calls on countries to jointly agree which non-EU countries will get access again. The EU recommends lifting restrictions for Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia on 1 July. It would also like to see the Schengen area’s internal border checks lifted by 15 June, though Spain and Portugal have already indicated they will reopen later.
