Delhi air turns 'severe'
Delhi’s air quality turned 'severe' a day after Diwali. The air quality index touched 506 on Monday, even as the Delhi University area breached the ‘critical’ mark on Tuesday morning. City authorities advised residents with heart and respiratory ailments not to step out, warning that the first week of November is likely to be “the worst”. Parts of the city saw AQI levels of 999 - beyond which reading is not possible - on Diwali night, which is 16 times the prescribed limit. The PM2.5 concentration levels, however, were much lower than in the last three years.
