Britain's Office for National Statistics says that wage growth has risen at its fastest pace since July 2018, even as hiring slows. Earnings, excluding bonuses, rose 3.6% in the three months to May, boosting household spending as UK inflation is currently at 2%. Wages have now outpaced inflation for 16 months. But job growth has slowed, with recent research showing a 2.3% decline in advertised positions in the second quarter of 2019, according to recruitment firm Reed.
