High Court throws out Boris case

The High Court has rejected an attempt to prosecute Boris Johnson over allegations he lied during the Brexit campaign. Johnson was said to have stated Britain would be ￡350 million a week better off outside the EU, which opponents argued was deliberately misleading. The NHS cash claim was plastered all over a campaign bus that toured the UK in ahead of the 2016 referendum. Judges took about five minutes on the decision, and have promised to share their reasons at a later date.

I dare say we haven't heard the last of this. It will be interesting to see the judgment when it is published.

Interesting that Conservative leadership contender Boris Johnson has been ordered by a district judge to appear in court over allegations he lied during the Brexit campaign. I wonder if this going to set a precedent for politicians lying to their voters.....

This will never go to trial, but that’s ok, because a plan which hurts small business owners and rewards the few should be scrutinized and questioned

Politicians of all political colours stretch the parameters of truth to support their own version of the facts...and as voters, we distinguish between fact and fiction when we go to the ballot box...this is a dangerous precedent!

I would suggest that most of parliament could/should answer questions on their behavior, statements and conduct over the last 3 years. Although this is just another distraction and farcical act in the pantomime that is British politics
